Top Nine Books of 2018

I got quite a bit behind in my reading in 2018. I only managed to finish my reading challenge by reading a lot of picture books and comics (most of which I would have read anyway, but maybe not all at once). So it's not surprising that I didn't add ten books to my all-time favorites list. It's not the first time that's happened, and I still have a pretty solid list. I don't love that this is a top 9 list instead of a top 10 list, but I guess that's just how things worked out! These nine books, though, were incredible. I am so happy that I read them all, and I think that these made it a really great reading year. It's an interesting assortment of books, and most of them are ones that I have strong feelings about that I struggle to put into words, so prepare for me to say mostly "it was GREAT PLEASE READ IT." Honorable mentions: other books that I gave 5 stars to this year (alphabetical order) Children of Blood and Bone - The Day the Cra

End-of-Year Book Survey 2018

It's time for one of my favorite posts of the year - the end-of-year book survey! This was created by Jamie @ Perpetual Page-Turner . This is a really great way for me to look back on my reading year, and to share some of my favorites with you! If you want a more detailed account of the best of the best, I have a post with my favorite books of 2018 coming tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! If you want more of my surveys, you can find my 2017 post here and my 2016 post here . 2018 READING STATS Number Of Books You Read: I'm just going to go ahead and say that it's 100 - I haven't quite made it there yet, but I have a couple of short books to finish off the year. Number of Re-Reads: It might just be one - TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE - but I might squeeze in rereading the rest of the series! Genre You Read The Most From: I don't even have to count for this: comics or YA contemporary. I read so much of each this year! 1. Best book you rea

End-of-Year Book Tag

Time for another book tag! It's getting pretty close to the end of the year, which means that it's the perfect time for this wrapping-things-up tag. I also did this tag last year , but I think it's a great thing to do every year! Are there any books you've started this year that you need to finish? There are quite a few, especially ones that I've put down for who knows how long, but the two that I'm really planning on are THE ICE CREAM QUEEN OF ORCHARD STREET and MORE THAN WE CAN TELL . Do you have an autumnal/wintery book to transition into the end of the year? I was struggling to think of something for this, but then I remembered that I have TOIL & TROUBLE ! It's a perfect anthology that I have to read before Halloween. Is there a new release you're still waiting for? Some of my most anticipated books of the year still haven't been released! PULP , THE RESOLUTIONS , and THE DISASTERS are all coming up in the next two mont

Short Books for Your Goodreads Challenge

I've been talking a lot about how I'm behind in my Goodreads challenge, and it occurred to me that there are probably other people in the same boat. What better way to catch up on your challenge than reading short books? I've put together a list of some of my favorite short books in each of eight categories. I didn't put individual page counts, but the range is with the category name and I listed them from shortest to longest. Every single book here is fewer than 300 pages, and most are under 250. No matter what kind of short books you want to read to catch up, you'll (hopefully) find something you'll like! Picture Books (24-40 pages) Nonfiction (88-290 pages) Novellas (100-226 pages) Comic Books (111-256 pages) Books in Verse (156-210 pages) Middle Grade (182-286 pages) Classics (184-251 pages) YA (210-288 pages)   What are your favorite short books? Tell me in the comments - I need some advice for this, t
